Hey there, fellow adventurers! Today, I’m taking you on a virtual trip to one of the coolest places on Earth: 😎🌊Olympic National Park in Washington State. Get ready for jaw-dropping scenery, epic hikes, and some seriously wild wildlife encounters! 

Did you know Olympic National Park is like a mini world all by itself? It has rainforests, mountains, and beaches all in one place! Talk about having it all. 

🌲🏔️The park is home to the famous Mount Olympus, which stands tall at 7,980 feet (2,432 meters). Imagine hiking up there—literally feeling on top of the world! 

How Big is Olympic National Park

First off, the Olympic National Park is HUGE! It’s about 3,733 square kilometers. To give you an idea,  Olympic National Park is about 12 times larger than Dhaka. 🌲🏞️ vs. 🏙️! 🌍

So, it would not be possible to visit this huge national park in only 1 day! In this article, I will mostly cover the must-see places in Olympic National Park in 3 days! So let’s get started! 😃🌳🧺

Where to Go?

🏞️🌊 If you divide the national park into two parts, for two days you can explore the beaches 🏖️ and rainforests 🌳, Falls, and the other day is perfect for lakes 🚣‍♂️ and mountains ⛰️. Here’s the perfect plan for you! 🌟

Day 1 Trip Itinerary

To cover the best spots in three days, start from the Lake Quinault area, which can be your base camp. 🌲🏞️ This is Rain Forest Resort Village in the picture.

Whether you prefer the comfort of a resort or the adventure of camping under the stars, Lake Quinault offers options for a cozy night’s stay. 🏕️

😲 Did you know? 🌳🌲The Hoh Rain Forest hosts one of the world’s tallest Sitka spruce trees, which is over 250 feet tall —big enough to hide a whole basketball court! 🏀🌳This is just a 10-minute hike from the resort, do not miss it!

 Day 2 Trip Itinerary

Tree of Life & Kalaloch Beach
🌅 Start your second day early at Kalaloch Campground and head to the “Tree of Life” 🌳 on Kalaloch Beach to catch the sunrise. It’s a perfect way to begin your adventure! 🌊

🌊For easy access park at the Kalaloch Campground Parking and take a 5-minute walk including a stair to catch this beauty.

🌳The Tree of Life is like a superhero in Olympic National Park! 🌲 It stands tall and strong on a little island rock in the sea, showing off its beauty and strength against all odds. It’s like nature’s way of saying, “I can do anything!” 😎

🏄‍♀️The beach is a prime spot for spotting bald eagles,🦅🐟 especially during the salmon runs in late summer and fall. It’s famous for its large, ancient driftwood logs that line the shore, washed ashore by the Pacific Ocean.

Ruby Beach

🌊 After that take a short stop at Ruby Beach 🏞️ for its stunning views. Ruby Beach got its name from the sparkling gems hidden in the sand – they’re actually garnets and other cool minerals!

🏖️ This beach is super famous in Washington state because of its awesome sea stacks and wild coastline that make for perfect photos.

Make sure to wear tough shoes when you explore Ruby Beach. It can get rocky and slippery, especially near the water. 🌊

Hoh Rain Forest Visitor Center

Then, head to the Hoh Rain Forest Visitor Center 🌲 to explore the lush greenery. The best time to visit? Mornings or during light rain when mist and fog transform the forest into a fairy tale. 🧚‍♂️🌫️Hours: Summer: 9 AM – 5 PM, Winter: Check online 🕘❄️

Hoh Rain Forest

🚶‍♂️🚶 If you don’t want to hike much but want to get the best views, Take the Hall of Mosses Trail—it’s like stepping into a green wonderland straight out of a fantasy movie. 🌿✨

🌿✨The trail is short, about 0.8 miles round-trip, so it’s great for anyone to walk. 🏞️🌿Along the way, you’ll find ancient trees covered in moss that come in different shades and textures, making it all look really magical. 🧚‍♂️🌲🌳 The air is cool and fresh, filled with the earthy scent of moss and damp soil. 🍃

🌳The Hoh Rain Forest receives an annual rainfall of about 140 inches (over 12 feet), making it one of the wettest places in the continental United States. 🌧️🌲

Rialto Beach

Afterward, continue your journey to Rialto Beach 🌅 for more coastal beauty. 🌊 🏖️ Look for huge sea stacks rising from the ocean and spot seagulls, seals, and even bald eagles! 🦅

The trail stretches approximately 1.6 miles (2.6 kilometers) each way, winding through the scenic Olympic National Park. 🏞️

For the best views and stunning photos, go early in the morning or during the springtime when the water flow is strongest! 🌊🌿📸

These iconic falls are known for their three-tiered cascades surrounded by lush greenery and moss-covered rocks. 🌿🌲 The trail offers a gentle incline, making it suitable for hikers of various fitness levels, including families and beginners. 📸💦

Lake Cresent

After visiting Sol Duc Falls, make your way to Lake Crescent, one of Washington state’s deepest lakes, plunging over 600 feet deep! 💧 It’s famous for its stunningly clear blue waters, shaped by glaciers over millennia. 🏞️

If you have 3 days to explore, don’t miss the chance to hike the scenic Marymere Falls trail for breathtaking views of a waterfall cascading into the lake.! 🌲💦

Olympic National Park Visitor Center (Port Angeles)

Make a quick stop at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center in Port Angeles! 🏞️ It’s a great way to catch a glimpse of one of the most beautiful port cities in the Pacific Northwest. 🌊

Hours: Summer: 8 AM – 6 PM, Winter: 9 AM – 4 PM. It’s a convenient spot to gather information and enjoy the surroundings before continuing your adventure! 🗺️🚗

Note: The nearest pit stop from Hurricane Ridge is here, as the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center unfortunately burned down in May 2023. However, temporary facilities are now in place. 🌲

Hurricane Ridge

🛣️👆The ridge is located at an elevation of approximately 5,242 feet (1,598 meters) in Olympic National Park.🏔️ It’s named for its fierce winds, which can reach hurricane-force during winter storms. 💨

For an unforgettable experience, hike one of the trails such as Hurricane Hill or Ridge Trail. 🥾

You’ll be treated to stunning vistas of the surrounding peaks and valleys as well as Black-Tailed Deer. 🦌🏔️ Graceful and common throughout Olympic National Park, these deer can often be spotted grazing in the meadows or among the trees in Hurricane Hills.

Before you go, check the weather forecast, especially for visibility due to varying cloud cover. ☁️ 🏞️🅿️The view from the parking lot itself is unbelievable. I can’t stress enough how incredibly beautiful it is! 😲
